Sunday, March 12, 2017 - Hoffman Estates Cabela’s (Event Photos)
A packed room of GSPCI families and guests got together on a sunny Sunday morning at the Hoffman Estates Cabela’s to attend the 2017 Kick Off Meeting. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces mixed in with children and grandchildren. We welcomed several new GSPCI members who joined at the meeting.
Our board members took the opportunity to introduce themselves and give a brief introduction to some of the events we have to look forward to this year. An updated calendar and event updates are available on the website. (Calendar).
The meeting also served as a rollout for the new GSPCI Member Benefit Program. The benefits included a discounted subscription to Pointing Dog Journal Magazine, a group rate for Nationwide Pet Insurance and a custom clothing program which will allow our members to add an embroidered GSPCI logo to practically any item of clothing that Cabela’s sells.
The featured speaker for the meeting was Illinois Department of Natural Resources Program Manager, Terry Musser. Terry is the Program Manager for the Wingshooting Clinics, Dog Trials and Controlled Pheasant Season. Terry gave an informative talk about Wingshooting tips and the IDNR Wingshooting Program. A copy of Terry’s presentation is posted on the GSPCI website. (Download Presentation)
GSPCI has long been a sponsor of the Women’s and Youth Clinic held at the Des Plaines SFWA. This year’s clinic, on May 20th will also be sponsored by the Friends of Des Plains SFWA. Watch our website for registration instructions. For the full schedule of Women’s, Youth and Hunters Wingshooting Clinics see (Download Details)
After the conclusion of Terry’s presentation our club presented Terry with a plaque recognizing his more than forty years of service to the sportsmen and women of Illinois.
