2023 GSPCI - VCOI Mock Hunt Test Sunday, June 25, 2023

The event, held on the East Grounds of the Des Plaines Fish and Wildlife Area, is open to all current GSPCI and VCOI members and will include Junior, Senior and Master levels.

Please plan on arriving early to give you time to prepare your dog, watch some early braces, and of course, socialize with your fellow handlers!

The first brace of masters is scheduled to start at 8:00 AM. Each brace will have a short, back course followed by 10-15 minutes in the bird field.

The day is expected to be warm. We plan on having water tanks for the dogs, but everyone should be carrying water for their dogs. We do not want to have any emergencies!

Tick spray is encouraged for the dogs and handlers.

 Additional notes for the day:

The event is held on the EAST GROUNDS of the Des Plaines SFWA. From I 55, exit on River Road, turn left (east) to the first road on your right (Boathouse Road). The parking area is approximately ¼ mile on your left.

Lunch will be provided. You are welcome to bring along a side dish to share with the group.

This is a training event. Training collars and check cords are allowed. If you are not confident that your dog will be under control, start out with a check cord!

Four birds will be put out for each brace. This allows for each dog to have two points and two honors. Gunners will be provided for the master and senior braces. Junior brace handlers should have a blank gun.

Coaching is available from experienced handlers and the judges. We are there to help everyone.
