Welcome to the 2022 Fall Hunting Tests!
Saturday - Sep 10 Running Order
We expect fantastic weather along with great work from our handlers and their dogs. Please plan to sign in early in case we are running ahead of schedule.
The tests are on the West Grounds of the Des Plaines SFWA.
From I 55 exit on North River Road, then turn right (southwest). Continue past the trap ranges and over the railroad tracks. The test grounds will be on your right, just before Blodgett Road.
We will be hosting a fun dinner early Saturday night.
Everyone is welcome to bring along a side dish or desert
To help us with an estimated head count, please email Perry at perrydlu@comcast.net by Thursday afternoon if you plan on joining us.
Lunch will be available Saturday and Sunday.
A few additional notes for the weekend:
A water tub will be positioned at the midway point of the course and again as the dogs leave the bird field. We strongly encourage all handlers to carry water in the field for your dogs.
Marshals will be available in the parking lot to help keep you on schedule. Please ask the score desk to point out who the marshals are so you know who to check with for your start time.
Due to the height of the cover on the back course will be using a bird field for the master, senior and junior braces. A line marshal is available to help you familiarize yourself with the course prior to your brace.
As a courtesy to others please do not air your dogs off lead anywhere on the hunting test grounds.
Per AKC rules training, training collars and training leads are not permitted on test participants.
GPS collars will be checked to confirm that prongs have been removed.
Pictures of qualifying master and senior dogs will be taken upon conclusion of the final senior brace in front of the GSPCI banner to the east of the check in area. Pictures of qualifying junior dogs will be taken upon conclusion of the final junior brace in front of the GSPCI banner to the east of the check in area. Pictures will be posted later in the week on the club’s website at www.gspci.org.
Camping is available on the grounds for $8 per night. Reservations are not required.
The running orders may be modified due to entries pulling or advancing to another level. Please allow time to accommodate any last-minute changes.
Upon conclusion of the tests on Sunday afternoon, the fields will be available at the test committee’s discretion to GSPCI volunteers and members.
Note to new handlers:
Our tests are sanctioned by the AKC and have specific rules to follow. We suggest that you review the AKC Hunting Tests Rule Book AKC Pointing Dog Hunting Tests Rule Book in order to gain a better understanding of the objectives of a hunting test and the categories that your dogs are being judged on. While the AKC does allow the hunting test committee a degree of latitude to modify braces, it is to be done only to expedite the test and not to accommodate individual handlers, nor should it cause delays to the tests.
